Hello, my name is Colleene Barnett, owner and instructor of Keeping the Piece: Concealed Deadly Weapons & Defensive Handgun Training for Women.  I have several passions in life: Christ Jesus and His Word, my husband and son, homeschooling, and equipping women with the tools they need to defend themselves and their children against anyone who would threaten to harm or attack them. 

I have talked to lots of women who are afraid of or are intimidated by firearms.  Having spent a number of my younger years feeling afraid of them myself, I believe most fear of firearms comes from lack of knowledge and understanding of how guns function. We tend to fear that which we do not understand and even personify inanimate objects, thinking they can, in and of themselves, cause harm. I have also talked to many women who would like training in the use of handguns, but are uncomfortable and/or intimidated by the idea of taking classes alongside men. 

Considering these concerns, I began offering Concealed Deadly Weapons and Defensive Handgun Instruction in July of 2010.
