Kentucky Concealed Carrying Deadly Weapons Permit Course

Course Requirements and Cost:

• Residency in the State of Kentucky for at least 6 months
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Cost is $85 (pre-payment secures registration for course), payable by check, money order, or any major credit card via my website at:  http://www.keepingthepiece.com/sign_up_now.htm
• You will need a pistol and 40 rounds of factory-loaded ammunition for this course. (No re-loads)
• You will need a cleaning kit

A person is NOT eligible to get a license if that person:

• Is ineligible to possess a firearm under KRS 527.040 (Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon).
• Is ineligible to possess a firearm under federal law which applies to any person who:
  • is under indictment for or has been convicted of any felony;
  • is a fugitive of justice;
  • is an unlawful user of or is addicted to controlled substances;
  • has been judged by a court to be mentally defective or has been involuntarily committed to a mental institution;
  • is an illegal alien;
  • has been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions;
  • has renounced US citizenship;
  • is currently subject to a domestic violence protection order, or
  • has been convicted by any court of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
• Within the preceding three years:
  • Has been committed for abuse of controlled substances or has been convicted of a misdemeanor involving controlled substances;
  • Has 2 or more convictions for motor vehicle DUI or has been committed for alcoholism;
  • Has been judged by a court to be mentally incompetent or has been involuntarily committed to a mental institution, or;
  • Has been convicted of a misdemeanor of Assault in the 4th Degree or Terroristic Threatening.
• Not paying child support has also become a disqualifier.
• New requirement: US Citizenship.

NOTE: After a license has been issued, if any of the above takes place, the license will be suspended.
