Why does 'Keeping the Piece' display Scripture verses at the bottom of most pages? Colleene Barnett, Owner & Instructor for 'Keeping the Piece' loves God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Where do 'Keeping the Piece' classes take place? Keeping the Piece Women's Firearms Training Courses are held at Colleene's home in Paris, KY and at the American Institute of Marksmanship in Cave City, KY. Range activities for classes taught at Colleene's home are performed at Smokin' Guns.
Are all 'Keeping the Piece' Classes for women only? Keeping the Piece does offer co-ed Concealed Carry Classes if privately hosted in someone's home. Upon request, I occasionally host 'couples' classes in my home as well. Private instruction is available for male or female at Smokin' Guns by appointment. Just give me a call at (859) 707-5527 to schedule a time that works for you.
How can I schedule a CCDW Class in my home? To schedule a Keeping the Piece CCDW Class in your home, all you need to do is contact Colleene to express your interest. Colleene will then contact you listing the dates she is available to teach in the month you prefer. A date will be set and a link will be placed on the appropriate page for your class members to pay for their training.
Are there any specific requirements for me to schedule a class at my house? You must have 8 participants in order for Colleene to teach a class at your home if you live in Paris. In exchange for your work to find 10 participants, your training will be FREE! That saves you $75! You may have all women, couples, or a mixture of women and men at a home-based class. Colleene does not teach classes comprised of all men without her husband or a male instructor/Range Officer present. [ If you live outside of the Lexington area, please contact me. If you live far away, the number of required students may be more than 8. ]
How much does it cost to take a 'Keeping the Piece' Women's CCDW Class? The cost is $75.
What exactly is covered by the ccdw class fee? This fee includes the money which must be paid to the KY Department of Criminal Justice, classroom rental, range rental, and targets. Also there is built-in compensation for the instructor, which she uses to: cover her time spent in classroom providing training as well as her preparation for class and paperwork which must be completed both before and after class. Also, costs are offset for printing fees, postage for mailing documents to KY Department of Criminal Justice, advertisement, website maintenance, and travel costs.
What will I need to bring to a 'Keeping the Piece' Women's CCDW Class? You will need to bring your pistol, 20 rounds of factory-loaded ammunition, cleaning kit, owner's manual if you have it, pen/pencil, hearing and eye protection, and your Driver's License to verify age.
How old must I be to attend a 'Keeping the Piece' CCDW Class? In the state of KY, you must be 21 years old to qualify for a CCDW License. You are not permitted to take the class until you reach this required age. The Instructor will verify your age by checking your Driver's License at some point during the class.
Where can I take a 'Keeping the Piece' Women's Intro Defensive Handgun Class? There is a Ladies Intro to Self Defense Handgun Course [DH-2] scheduled at American Institute of Marksmanship on March 10, 2012 in Cave City, KY. Private Instruction may be scheduled to cover all the topics I teach in this class on a one to one basis. How much does it cost to take a 'Keeping the Piece' Women's Intro Pistol Class? This class costs $99. Individual Private Lessons are $30/hour.
What is included in the fee for the Women's Intro Pistol? The fee covers 5-6 hours of intense instruction, 2-3 hours of shooting time at a local range, and targets.

What does 'CCDW' mean? 'CCDW' is an acronym which stands for 'Carry Concealed Deadly Weapons', commonly referred to as any of the following: CCW, Concealed Carry Permit, Concealed Carry License, Concealed Weapon License, Gun Permit, Gun License, Concealed Carry License.
Do I have to have a 'CCDW' permit to carry a pistol openly in the state of KY?No. In the state of KY, you may exercise your constitutional right to carry a pistol openly on your body without a permit. If there is any risk of a shirt, jacket, or any other garment covering your pistol, you will need to have a CCDW Permit.
What are some of the other deadly weapons covered by the CCDW Permit in the state of Kentucky? (Answer from Kentucky State Police Website) Any weapon from which a shot, readily capable of producing death or serious physical injury, may be discharged Any knife other than an ordinary pocket knife or hunting knife Billy, nightstick, or club, blackjack or slapjack, shuriken or death star, nunchuck karate sticks, artificial knuckles made from plastic or other similar hard material
