2. Find a high quality holster that works for your specific body shape. Being a woman makes this a challenge since we are trying to conceal a straight piece of metal on a soft curvy body. You may find tips to help with this here. Practice drawing from your holster 20 times daily until it's smooth and fast.

3. Practice often at the range with the weapon you plan to carry. Practice at varying distances and try moving while you draw and during reloads so you will be prepared to do so in a real-life situation. Moving off the line of attack is as important as drawing your gun in a defensive situation.

4. Know where you SHALL NOT carry legally in the state of KY and in any other state you plan to travel through.

5. Learn to shoot with a flashlight. There are many techniques to choose from. You must be able to assuredly identify someone as a threat before you point your weapon at them...so a flashlight is a necessity in low light.

6. Choose good defensive ammunition for your carry pistol. Make sure the round you choose will feed in your gun.

8. Do Dry Fire Drills Daily. Be sure to separate the ammunition from your gun completely during drills...in another room is a good idea.

9. Participate in shooting clubs, which are good opportunities for meeting like-minded shooters and developing new skills.

10. Stay familiar with the statutes for Concealed Carry in KY.
